From School Girl to It Girl: a Review of Opening Act Wishtape

Select Lounge in Baltimore, Md. was stupid live Thursday night when a crowd of all ages came together in support of Wish’s latest release, Opening Act: WishTape. With live performances from Wish and local artist The Legendary DDM, the event left many fans excited and compelled to download and support her movement.

The EP, Opening Act: Wishtape is her first project completed under Jive Records. While the EP includes the buzz singles, “Suga Daddy” and “Feel Ur Beat”, it is a compilation of 13 tracks which offer variety and substance. Wish pours her emotions onto the melodies of tracks like, “Warrior”, “Safer Way to Love You”, and “Right Place at the Wrong Time” and amps up her Boss attitude on tracks like, “Think She Bad”, “New Piece of Man” and “Take it to the floor”. With features from, BET nominated artist, Lola Monroe and singer/songwriter Donny Roc, the Opening Act: WishTape proves to be a mellow mix of popping club bangers, ballads and bars.

Two years ago I met a girl hungry for this game with a plan to eat, Thursday night I met a beast who eats beats and spits out music. If your interested in listening to a bland mix of tracks headed in one direction you won’t like the latest EP from Wish. I assure you, The Opening Act: Wishtape serves up variety on a platter.
