“If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking and just do it.” -Anonymous.
In 2017 there are less millennial entrepreneurs than any other generation has ever seen. Millennials could have struck gold with less traditional entrepreneurial opportunities such as travel clubs, social media influencers opportunities, reality television and online businesses etc. It’s become really easy to start your own brand, your own business as Millenials are opening twice as many businesses as their parents. With a recovering economy, an increasing cost-of-living, and failure-to-launch, some of us find it easier to get a job and live in a complacent lifestyle.
John Lennon once said, “Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see…”
Millenials are the more open generation, according to Pew Research, we’re confident, connected and open to change. Don’t get me wrong, working a 9-5 and living within your routine can be bliss for some. It may even be the life they’ve chosen and all of their dreams are fulfilled. But for those of us who have unfulfilled dreams, there is still so much work to be done. Those of us chasing our true dreams are going against the normal process of living, we’re going against the societies belief system. We are going against what author of The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz calls this ’the domestication of humans’. There are other dreams we seek and they are our own.
This week’s positive affirmation is, “I will stop asking for permission to be great.”
It takes a motivated, determined person to get up each day and take ownership of their dreams and goals. To tell their parents and friends that they’re going to do something that isn’t “normal”. It takes a stronger person to go against the grain—to take life lessons and turn them into life blessings. It takes an even stronger person to do so with your loved ones and naysayers watching.
Have you ever wondered what are you waiting for?
You’re waiting for permission. You’re waiting for acceptance from your loved ones and friends and to be honest, you may never get it. Your dream is not meant for them to see clearly. They will not see it while it’s just an idea or a dream. How can they? It’s all in your head.
But, if you take action and make your dreams into reality. You will have the support. After the hard part is over, you will see the support you were looking for. Which should tell you, you do not need anyone’s permission to chase your dreams and to be great.
